Notes on “The CHAOS Report”

The CHAOS Report: Standish Group

The gist: Most IT projects fail due to unclear or changing requirements, lack of user input and lack of support from the organization.

The good: The CHAOS report is an interesting survey of IT managers.

The bad: It’s not science but the authors tried to make it look scientific. Consider the following result: 13.9% of IT Executives credited Executive Management Support as the key to project success!

The CHAOS report is a survey conducted by a corporation that has a clear financial stake in the results.
